A vowel that is hard to pronounce is the U. Some foreigners pronounce it like the OE which causes confusion in understanding. A common example to show this confusion is with the words ‘huur’ (with the u) and ‘hoer’ (with the oe). ‘Huur’ means rent while ‘hoer’ means hooker. Watch the video to hear the U. ‘Uitwaaien’ litterly means to blow out. It is something Dutch people mostly say when they go to the beach for a walk because most of the time you can feel the wind over there. This with the idea to let the wind blow all your worries out of your mind. Some people also say it if they go outside for a walk in the park or anywhere else, or if they are going to cycle for fun.
