The Dutch culture is often seen as informal. Although there is a formal you ‘u’ in general people use mostly the informal you ‘jij’. We say ‘jij’ to friends, family, our boss and to the cashier in the supermarket. At work, the atmosphere is in most cases informal which means that everyone can give their opinion or feedback.
